Cutting by PG&E Contractors in absence of property owner supervision, presumably overseen by PG&E arborist.

Know your landowner rights. You can take action.

  1. For PG&E this is an elective project to reduce PG&E’s vegetation management costs. No law or regulation requires trees to be removed instead of trimmed.
  2. You have a right to demand an explanation, on the record, as to why PG&E or their contractor, believes that a tree must be removed rather than trimmed.
  3. Read the PG&E Easement with your property title documents. Be informed of what it says.
  4. You should inform PG&E they may continue to inspect and trim your trees to comply with state and federal reliability standards as they have previously on your property but firmly state that you do not authorize them to remove trees without first talking to you.
  5. It is critically important that you require PG&E to meet with you on your property and review each tree individually. If You want your trees, JUST SAY NO.  Tell them to trim or leave!  SOS-Trees members have had some success saving trees in this way... at least for now.
